Working at Waddesdon

Students at Waddesdon are excellent. They interact very well with both staff and peers and there is a real collaborative family feel in the school, built around our core values of dignity and respect for all. The students want to learn and achieve their best, which makes teaching here a highly rewarding experience.

I have had many chances to further my own professional development whilst working here, from honing my classroom practice to developing leadership skills. I couldn’t think of anywhere I’d rather be!

Mr M Barrett / Subject Leader for Geography

I love Waddesdon because you feel like you are part of a family. Everybody, staff and students, are so supportive of each other. We care about the same things and have the same goals. I can’t think of a better place to have started my career.

Miss S Caswell / Second in English & DofE Manager

Waddesdon Church of England School is a co-educational 11-18 secondary school with around 1,000 students on roll, including 300 students in the Sixth Form.  Our daily routines and educational practice are rooted in the twin values of Dignity and Respect.  We take a holistic view of what it means to be educated and encourage the development of character, citizenship and the importance of building trusting and honest relationships.  Our school is orderly, but joyful; it is disciplined and also recognises the unique gifts and talents of individual students.

We were inspected by Ofsted in December, 2021 and re-designated Outstanding in every category.  The report highlights the shared emphasis that we place on personal development and academic success.  The opening line encapsulates our educational vision: “Waddesdon Church of England school changes pupils’ lives for the better.”.  We are equally proud of our links with further education and employers and see our role as co-partners in a young person’s education.

As a Church of England school within the Diocese of Oxford, our values are grounded in the Christian faith, although we welcome equally young people and staff of all faiths and none.  An inspection by the Society for the Inspection of Anglican Schools in March 2018 also judged the school to be Outstanding as a Church of England school.

We encourage potential applicants to read our webpage on Staff Development.
