From time to time we may have to close the school due to severe weather, for example when snow disrupts the normal operation of school transport or prevents staff from getting to work. When we have to close the school before the start of the school day because of severe weather overnight, we will post a notice on the school website and on Buckinghamshire County Council’s school closures web page, found here. We will aim to do this as early as is practicable, normally by 7am.
If severe weather occurs during the school day while the school is in operation, we will liaise with the county council and our school transport providers before making a decision whether or not to close the school early. Once we have made a decision we will post a notice on the school website and on Buckinghamshire County Council’s school closures web page.
The school website and the county council’s school closures web page are your main source of information; local radio stations have broadcast inaccurate information in the past. In addition, rumours on social media and elsewhere should not be trusted.
It may be that some students arrive at school when it has been closed. Every care will be taken to see that they are returned home quickly and safely.
Sometimes it is necessary to close the school early, again usually because of a sudden deterioration in the prevailing weather. Before taking such a decision, the Local Education Authority and the Police are consulted. In such circumstances, regretfully, it will not be possible to inform parents individually by telephone of the decision. It is absolutely essential, therefore, that all students have easy access to a place of safety, if they return home early. Please discuss this with your son or daughter so that you come to a suitable arrangement.
