In Physical Education our main aim is for students to experience a range of activities and roles within sport to enable them to develop an enthusiasm for leading active and healthy lifestyles. Through the medium of sport, students will develop problem-solving and communication skills along with technical development. Students will have the opportunity to undertake personal fitness challenges and take a lead in developing their own training, as they progress through the key stages. Examination PE at GCSE and A Level provides the avenue for those students who are passionate about sport and wish to study it in greater depth.

Key Stage 3
At KS3 we follow an inclusive timetable regarding gender, with the aim being to maximise exposure across a range of sporting activities. During this time, students will look to develop a range of key/core skills in various games and activities, whilst also being given the opportunity to perform alternative roles within the lesson. In addition to the core skills, students will develop decision-making processes in order to show problem-solving skills, and develop their ability to apply basic tactics and strategies to various sporting situations.
Key Stage 4
In PE at KS4, we look to build on KS3 core skills and tactical abilities with a view to providing a greater understanding of game. As students develop their knowledge and confidence, they derive greater enjoyment from their ability to both understand and appreciate the activity to a higher level.
We continue to inform and encourage students to lead a healthy, active lifestyle, helping them to build on mental and social skills such as resilience, mental health, independence, co-operation, teamwork and respect. We are able to offer a wider choice in the KS4 core curriculum, giving students a greater opportunity to find a physical activity they enjoy and wish to continue outside of school.
Key Stage 5
In PE we look to provide an opportunity for both competitive and recreational sporting experiences through the provision of Sixth Form sports teams and a Wednesday enrichment afternoon, when students are independent in their sporting choices.
