Welcome to the Waddesdon Careers!
There is plenty of advice and support available to students for planning their future careers at school:
Miss Bridges is our Pathways Co-ordinator and is available for one-to-one appointments with students and/or parents. Her office is located at the back of the library or she can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org. She is also available for support at Parents’ Evenings for Years 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13.
Students in every year group are invited to our school Careers’ Fair which occurs in mid-February every year. At this event, over 50 representatives from universities, apprenticeship providers, local colleges, employers and Gap Year organisations are in attendance to answer all students and parents’ questions.
There is also a strong careers and employability strand in PSHE lessons and the Sixth Form Extension Studies programme, for example, with lessons on how to write a CV and covering letter. Guest speakers from all walks of life are invited in to talk to students in these sessions and also in assemblies and workshops.
The Year 8 and Year 11 Conferences provide advice and guidance about subject options at key transition points.
There is also the careers section in the library for independent research as well as access to the Fast Tomato programme for assessing personal interests and skills, with career suggestions for students based on the results.
